Mt. Sambong, which is located at the point around 38kms away from Muju-eup to the eastern south, is a big peak around 1,254m above sea level and a renowned mount with its name, 'Sambong', meaning 'three peaks'. This mount, which is the first peak of the consecutive peaks of Mt. Deokyu, presents its mysterious scenic beauty as if it is a small Geumgang while the natural mountain scenary with all the peaks stretching from the main peak, Sambong, Tugubong, Nojeokbong, Chilseongbong, Shiseonbong, Seokbulbawi, Janggunbawi to Kalbawi, which are named according to each shape or legend is accompanied with Geumbongam in Geochang city.
